Community Legal Education

Would you like to know more about family law, domestic/family violence, or discrimination?

NQWLS works collaboratively with many community organisations across North Queensland and Far North Queensland. NQWLS would like to provide all women with access to free information and resources about family law (parenting and property), defacto matters (parenting and property), family/domestic violence, discrimination, and child protection.

NQWLS also have three staff members who are accredited ‘Love Bites’ facilitators. ‘Love Bites’ is a school-based Domestic and Family Violence and Sexual Assault prevention program. Love Bites is based on best practice standards for education programs as recommended by the Federal Government funded Australian Domestic and Family Violence Clearing House and other leading academics in the area of violence against women.

NQWLS has developed a new website called “Ask Nola” that provides free webinars and legal information for community organisations. The webinars are practical, interactive and informal. They will cover how the law works, legal rights, legal responsibilities and aim to give an overview of the processes involved.

The webinars are based on common legal issues faced by women in areas of law that NQWLS regularly assists with.
