Think before you type: Legal Implications of Social Media

Posting your location, thoughts on a subject or a photo can have significant safety and legal consequences… The Family Law Act has strict rules that apply to publishing information about family law proceedings or disclosing personal information that may disclose the identity or information about parties to a family law matter. Under section 121 of the Family Law Act 1975 a party to family law proceedings is prohibited from discussing or publishing the contents of Court proceedings to the public. There are penalties attached if such breaches occur including monetary fines.
